Twilight Book Review
Hello everyone and welcome back to Cover to Cover! Today, I have a very exciting review because after all these years I have finally read Twilight. Nothing like starting your twilight phase years later, but better late than never. So, let's get into it!
At this point in time, I have only read Twilight, but I am currently reading New Moon and plan on making my way through the entire series. To be honest, I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. I'm seriously going to read the entire series now, and obviously watch the movies in between. I love reading a book and then watching the movie adaptation while everything is still fresh in my mind. I did the same thing with The Hobbit. I feel like I just pick up on more and can really appreciate the book more.
The movie did get a lot right but there were also some things there were just wrong. For example, how Bella was portrayed in the movie is nothing like how she is in the books. In my opinion, her character has one of the biggest differences. She's slightly less annoying in the books, but also has a lot more personality. Edward has differences too, but I don't think it is that bad.
Another thing, the writing seems very amateur. There are some really good quotes throughout the book, but overall it's a super easy book to read.
I also really like the reason it's called Twilight and why the twilight time of day ties into the story. In the book it is explained as the safest time of day for vampires. Which I'm not 100% that was mentioned in the movies, but I really liked that. Especially when safety and danger play a big part throughout all the books.
Overall, I think it would've been really cool to read this during the height of the movies and everything, but I'm still glad to be able to read it now. I appreciate it a lot more than I think my younger self would. I also realize that I'm definitely Team Edward after being a Jacob stan years ago.
I would rate Twilight 3/5 stars, and would definitely recommend to someone who has either seen/liked the movies or likes vampire books. I'm very excited for New Moon though because that was my favorite movie out of the series.
