Nothing More to Tell Book Review

Nothing More to Tell Book Review

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Today, I have another book review. This was selected by my book club, and I was so happy because I love Karen M. McManus' writing. She writes YA mysteries that are honestly pretty good, so let's get into it!

For some background, three 8th grade students were wondering through the woods working on a project when they find their English teacher, Mr. Larkin, dead. Four years later, some people are the school are convinced there is more to it than that. Vandalism and anonymous accusatory texts start happening as a memorial garden for the teacher is now in the works. Brynn Gallagher is convinced there is more to the story and that Mr, Larkin wasn't just a victim on a tragic "wrong place wrong time" situation. The school is still healing, and as Brynn digs, she learns that maybe her favorite English teacher has a haunting past.

I really enjoyed this book. When I say it kept me guessing, it really did. I had some many people in mind as to who killed Mr. Larkin and what really happened. And I have to say the ending was justified. I'm satisfied with how McManus wrapped everything up.

The book is about 350ish pages and has short chapters. We all know how I feel about that. And it was a very easy book to read and follow.

I loved Brynn and her Nancy Drew attitude. And I do think this book was realistic for a bunch of high schoolers to be looking into this. She goes to the school where Mr. Larkin worked and could get insider information that way, and also works for a crime journal (or some media journal) and has resources that way.

I also really liked her and Tripp. Tripp was one of the three students who found the teacher in the woods. Him and Brynn used to be best friends, he made fun of her in front of their entire gym class and now they are slowly becoming friends again. Their relationship is cute, and I like that he goes with her to investigate the case.

Overall, I would highly recommend! I would also recommend many of McManus' other books as well, the ones I have read so far have been really good. I would give this one 3/5 stars!

Alright folks, that is all I have for today! Come back next week for another blog post! As always thank you for reading :)
