How to Sell a Haunted House Book Review
Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Today, I am back with another book review, and I have to say I was really surprised by this one. So, let's get into it!
How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix was really outside of my comfort zone for reading. I'm not really a horror genre girly, and honestly, I didn't know what to expect when reading this. I hadn't seen a lot of reviews online. Essentially the book is about a brother and sister whose parents die in a car accident. They are then tasked with getting the house ready to sell, but as they are packing up their mom's handmade puppets weird things start happening.
This book is basically the Chucky movie in book form which was not what I was expecting at all. Like puppets? I've never read a book with possessed puppets before. Once the puppets started acting up, I kind of lost a little bit of interest. It was a little too cheesy for me.
The book was broken down into 4-5 parts and each section was a stage of grief. I really liked that. The chapters were short; and I really liked the characters except for the brother, Mark. He was so annoying in the beginning. He got a little better by the end, but he did not make a good impression (which honestly just means that the writing was really good).
I would love to read other books by Grady Hendrix. I really enjoyed his writing style, it was quirky and entertaining to say the least. I haven't read anything else by him, but I do have another book of his on my bookshelf that I will get to eventually.
Overall, I'm glad I read and finished it. I would give this 3/5 stars, and I would recommend reading it!
Alright folks, that is all I have for this week! Come back next Wednesday for another blog post! As always thank you for reading:)
