The Best Hockey Romance Series

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Today, I want to talk about my favorite genre…hockey romance. If you know me then you know I love a good sports romance but in particular, I love a good hockey romance book. After having read so many, I feel like I am now qualified to let you know which ones are the best. So, let’s get into it!
1. The Off-Campus Series by Elle Kennedy
This was my first taste of hockey romance, and I have to say having read these books almost three years ago, I still think about them often. There are 5 books in total in the series, each about a different player. It’s college hockey, so the setting is obviously on campus. Even though I’m graduated, I still don’t mind the college atmosphere in books. The first book, The Deal, is by far my favorite. Garrett Graham is the book boyfriend. I read the entire series over a weekend, so it’s safe to say I couldn’t put these down. There’s actually a good plot in each, some spice, and honestly, characters that you come to love.
Now there is a spin-off series for the next generation after the characters here. Well, actually there’s two additional series that take place in the same universe. The Briar U series which is the next generation of hockey players on the team, and then Campus Diaries series which is about the Off-Campus characters kids. I haven’t read either of these, but I’ve heard good things!
2. Love and Hockey Series by Lauren Blakely
There are a total of 4 books in this series available right now with the fifth book coming out this June. I’ve come to love Lauren Blakely’s books. The characters are so lovable, the spice is good, and I love how interconnected everything is. The series is structured the same way the Off-Campus series is, but these characters are older. More mid-late twenties. I would say this series is more relatable for me now based on where I’m at in life. Plus, this is NHL which I honestly really like.
3. The Undone Series by Peyton Corinne
I just started this series this year. I’ve only read the first book so far, which is Unsteady and honestly, I really enjoyed this. This is another college sports book. I would say this had the most trigger warning plot points of all the ones I’ve read so far. The two main characters had a lot of real, hard issues to work through. I loved that they fell in love while helping each other through their difficult times. I think the book was really well written and handled these harder topics with a lot of grace. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Unloved.
4. D.C. Stars series by Chelsea Curto
I first heard of this series because I was seeing the book, Face Off, everywhere. Where the two main characters play for the same team, so a woman in the NHL! I thought this was a really unique concept. Most of the time it’s a player/team employee relationship or hockey player/figure skater relationship. It was nice to have that diversity. I absolutely love this series. The spice is on the lower end but well written. Again, each character has their own issues or baggage to work through, but it makes the relationships so much more authentic. This is going to be a long series; I believe 7-8 books which I’m so excited about!
5. Falling Series by Kenadee Bryant
This series is so adorable. Right now, there are two books out. I found that I liked the second one a lot better than the first, but I think these were well written. This is focused on the NHL and the mid to late twenties age. This is basically turning into my comfort series. Very cute! I highly recommend especially if you’re looking for a quick read or a palette cleanser.
6. Seattle Scorpions and The Blade Kings by Ruth Stilling
This is another series that I love! Actually, this series is complete and there is a spin-off series called The Blade Kings which I also love. The comradery of characters in these books are some of my favorites. I would say out of all the series so far, the Seattle Scorpions have least amount of spice, but The Blade Kings series makes up for it. Both of these are focused on the NHL, and the Seattle Scorpions characters are definitely the oldest out of all the others. There are four books in the Seattle Scorpion series and so far, three books that we are aware of for The Blade Kings. Book 2 comes out in May!
7. Vancouver Storm by Stephanie Archer
Now, these series are not listed in any particular order, but I do have to say Stephanie Archer is one of my favorite hockey romance writers. Her work with the Vancouver Storm series made me branch out to her other books which are also fabulous, the Queen’s Cove series in particular. But I love the level of spice that’s balanced out so well with a well written plot. Neither is too overdone or overwhelming. Her books also carry some of my favorite tropes like forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine, fake dating, etc. The second and third books are my favorite. There is a fourth book due to come out this June! If you take anything away from this post, please let it be that the Vancouver Storm series is one of the most superior hockey romance series.
Alright folks, that is all I have for this week! Come back next Wednesday for another blog post. As always, thank you for reading :)
