Hi everyone and welcome back to the blog! It’s the thick of spooky season, and you can’t embrace spooky season without a few haunted house reads. Horror is slowly becoming my favorite genre, so I’ve curated a list of my favorite haunted house books. Let’s get into it!
These are listed in no particular order.

The novel follows Eve, a woman living alone in a secluded house with her girlfriend. When a family unexpectedly arrives at the door claiming they used to live there, Eve lets them inside—and quickly realizes something is very wrong. As strange events unfold, she begins questioning the house, the family, and even her own reality
2. Caretaker by Marcus Kliewer

But strange rules, unsettling discoveries, and the secrets hidden inside the house quickly makes her question what she has gotten herself into. As things become increasingly disturbing, she realizes she may not be as alone—or as safe—as she thought.
3. The Place Where They Buried Your Heart by Christina Henry
A young woman returns to the small town and home connected to a traumatic part of her past. What should be a simple return quickly becomes unsettling when she begins experiencing strange occurrences and uncovering disturbing secrets about the house and the people who lived there. As the past starts bleeding into the present, she is forced to confront buried memories and a sinister presence that may have been there all along.
4. Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman
Incidents Around the House is a creepy psychological horror novel told from the perspective of a young girl named Bela. She begins experiencing terrifying encounters with a mysterious entity she calls Other Mommy, who repeatedly asks her to let her “inside.” As strange events unfold around Bela and her family, it becomes increasingly difficult to tell what is real—and whether Other Mommy is truly after Bela or something much more sinister is happening within the house.
5. We Live Here Now by Sarah Pinborough
We Live Here Now follows Emily and Freddie, a married couple who move into a beautiful old house in the countryside hoping for a fresh start. But almost immediately, Emily begins noticing strange things about the house—and Freddie's behavior becomes increasingly unsettling. As secrets from the home's past come to light, Emily starts questioning what is real, who she can trust, and whether the house is truly safe.
6. The Exorcist’s House by Nick Roberts
The Exorcist's House follows Daniel, who moves his family into a secluded house in the countryside, hoping for a fresh start. But the house has a dark history tied to a former exorcism, and strange, terrifying events soon begin to unfold.
