Great Big Beautiful Life Book Review

Great Big Beautiful Life Book Review

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Today, I am back with another book review. One of my most anticipated reads of 2025, and by one of my favorite authors, Emily Henry! I was so excited to finally read Great Big Beautiful Life, so let's get into it!

In a Great Big Beautiful Life we follow writers Alice and Hayden as they are both competing for a chance to write a biography about the infamous Margaret Ives, a scandalous starlet who has disappeared from the the limelight. On a one month trial basis, Alice and Hayden get snippets into Margaret's life. What it was like to grow up in one of the richest families, what really was going on behind all the cameras and headliners, the scandals, the marriages, the extortions. As Alice and Hayden grow closer, it's harder to separate their feelings from the job they came to Georgia for. Are they going to be able to start a relationship when only one of them is getting this dream job?

Emily Henry stated this was very different than anything she's written before, and I would agree. This book definitely makes me think of "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Less interview style though and more of a story-telling vibe.

I liked it. It's an Emily Henry novel. How can you not like it?

The thing that bothered me most is that there needed to be a family tree at the beginning of the book. It was really hard to keep Margaret's family straight. I kept needing to pause and remember who was who and who that person was to Margaret.

I loved Alice and Hayden. I want a hug from Hayden. Their physical contact was just like chemistry bouncing off the wall. Hayden was perfect book boyfriend material. He may be one of my favorite Emily Henry male main characters.

Overall, I really liked this because I love Emily Henry's writing style and she just has to most unique, descriptive literary devices. I did give this 5/5 stars. I know this might not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you're an Emily Henry fan and can't wait for the paperback version I would say to pick it up now!

Alright folks, that is all I have for this week! Come back next Wednesday for another blog post. As always, thank you for reading :)
