First and Forever Book Review
Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! I've been seeing this book everywhere and it's not even out yet! I've recently started reviewing arcs. I see bookstagrammers do it all the time, and I thought why not? I love reading, and after working in publishing I know how important writing AND promoting a book are. I want to help be a part of that for authors. So, let's get into it!
First and Forever follows Duffy as she is perceived to have tackle her NFL team’s mascot. Not wanting to be a home town villain she appears on a talk show with special guest, football superstar, Connor Cunningham. Connor is trying to ease the PR chaos revolving the incident. The two end up in a PR faking dating stunt and realize they needed each other’s friendship more than they thought.
I would like to start out by saying thank you to NetGalley, Lynn Painter and Berkley Publishing for sending this arc to me!
As a sports romance girlie this gives all the feels and so swoon worthy. I loved reading about Connor and Duffy's relationship. You could feel their chemistry through the pages. Connor is just one big head over heels in love golden retriever, and Duffy is more of a black cat guarding her heart and protecting her family.
I loved seeing them evolve from friends to lovers. Connor was so supportive and sweet. They were both there for each other. I love when the focus is on the relationship and the growth of the relationship instead of focusing on all the spice.
If you’re a fan of forced proximity, opposites attract, witty banter, and faking dating this has it all! Plus, it's a very fast read. I'm not joking when I say I read this in one evening after work. I was hooked from the very beginning. I thought the whole setting and storyline was different. It's not the usual meet cute I see in sports romance novels. At least, from all the ones I've read.
The story was truly so precious and I loved all the details and references to One Direction and Taylor Swift. It felt like a little nod to my younger self, and I loved it.
Lynn Painter KNOWS how to write romance! Seriously so cute and couldn’t read this fast enough!
Overall, I gave this 4/5 stars. It is seriously so cute and adorable, and I highly recommend.
First and Forever is out May 12!
Alright folks, that is all I have for this week! Come back next week for another blog post. As always, thank you for reading :)
