All Good People Here Book Review
Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog. If you know me, you know that I love listening to the Crime Junkies podcast. I don’t know what it is about this specific podcast, but I could listen to Ashley Flowers talk all day long. When I heard she had released a book, I was so excited. All Good People Here has been out for some time, and at this point, she’s already written another book, but better later than never. So, let’s get into it!
All Good People Here follows Margot Davies as she returns to her hometown to take care of her uncle. She hasn’t been back in forever but for good reason. When she was young, her friend January Jacobs was murdered. The case was everywhere and the killer was never caught. But shortly after Margot returns to town, another little girl goes missing and is found dead. The case is very similar to January’s. Margot is determined to find the killer.
The story is told through Margot’s present-day perspective and Krissy Jacob’s perspective (January’s mom). We get to see Margot’s journey of trying to discover who has been killing little girls and how it is tied to January because it has to be tied to January. We also see the events of January’s investigation unfold through Krissy’s eyes.
I think it was important that we got to see Krissy’s perspective. Not only did we get the investigation, but we got to see the aftermath of it as well. We got to see what happened to the family and how they all dealt with it.
For the better part of this book, I had no idea how it was going to end. There were so many potential suspects and paths the storyline could’ve gone. A lot of red herrings. Ultimately the end was wild. I think it was done perfectly. Not to give any spoilers away, but criminal cases do not have happy endings so why should this book have a happy ending.
I listened to the audiobook version, and I have to recommend it. Ashley Flowers narrates the epilogue which I thought was cool.
After reading this, I would like to read her newest book too. For this being her debut novel, it was really captivating. Fans of Crime Junkie would be satisfied and expect nothing less from Flowers.
Overall, I gave this 3/5 stars. I highly recommend checking this book out! It will keep you hooked to the very end.
Alright folks, that is all I have for this week! Come back next week for another blog post. As always, thank you for reading :)
