The Five People You Meet in Heaven Book Review
Hello everyone, and welcome back to the blog! Today, I am back with another book review. I've always seen Mitch Albom's books at the bookstore. The covers always stood out to me, but I've never picked one of his novels up until now. So, let's get into it!
The Five People You Meet in Heaven follows Eddie as he passes away and begins his journey in heaven. The basis of the book is that one of God's greatest gifts to us is being able to understand the events that happened in our lives. For Eddie, he meets five people that had an impact on his life. These people range from people he knew really well to people he has never met. Each person comes with a different lesson.
As someone who grew up Catholic but doesn't necessary practice anymore, I still felt a sort of peace while reading this. Religious books usually aren't my cup of tea, but I had seen some reviews talking about how this book really changed their perspective.
I think the biggest take away is that everyone's story is interconnected. The neighbor down the block to the little girl you see at the supermarket; everyone is connected. Their story impacts your story even if its in the smallest of ways. Which also means that your life is significant and does matter. Even if you feel like it doesn't. God sees you.
I've also been thinking about who my five people would be. Would it be my husband, my parents, some guy I honked my horn at in traffic?
This was a very short book at just over 215 pages. I honestly really enjoyed it. It was sad, and Eddie (in my opinion) had a sad life, but the ending was so poetically satisfying.
Overall, I would highly recommend! I have this 4/5 stars.
Alright folks that is all I have for this week. Come back next Wednesday for another blog post! As always, thank you for reading:)
