The Coworker Book Review

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Today, I have another book review, so let's dive into The Coworker by Freida McFadden!

I've been hearing a lot about Freida McFadden's books lately. My friends have been reading her and telling me which ones they love. But my one friend got me this book as a Christmas gift. I've just now been able to sit down and read it, and oh my gosh, it was so good.

The only other Freida McFadden book I've read is Never Lie, and I didn't like it. I wouldn't recommend. So, I was a little skeptical going into this one. I didn't have very high hopes. Long story short, I read this book in less than 2 days.

The Coworker follows Natalie a top saleswoman at Vixed, a company that sells vitamin supplements. Her quirky coworker, Dawn goes missing. She doesn't show up for work which is very unlike her. Concerned for Dawn's wellbeing, Natalie decides to dig into what happened. Only to realize she may wish she never did.

The book was written very simply, it was very easy to follow the plot line, to understand the characters, and overall very quick and easy read.

The book would switch between Natalie's point of view to emails Dawn was writing to a friend of hers. Like I said it was really easy to follow. This is a really nice book to get you back into reading and out of a slump. There are plenty of twists to keep you moving through the book.

There were actually a lot of things I really enjoyed about this book. Its just over 330 pages, so its not very big. I thought the pacing of the book was done really well. It didn't feel rushed or dragged out at any point.

I'm also a sucker for an unreliable narrator and both Natalie and Dawn are unreliable. I had no idea who I could trust. Reading Natalie's chapters you get in your head that Dawn is just a weirdo, but reading Dawn's chapters you starting thinking Natalie's just a bitch. I loved it.

The ending was a little predictable, at least when it came to the beginning of part 2. There were things that I didn't see coming.

Overall, I give this a 4/5 stars, and I would highly recommend.

Alright folks, that's all for this week! Come back next Wednesday for another blog post! As always, thanks for reading:)
